Santilla Chingaipe is an award winning Journalist for SBS World News based in Melbourne. She reports for all SBS News platforms. Her role has seen her travel to South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia from where she filed reports. Santilla has exclusively interviewed some of Africa’s most prominent leaders e.g. Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula in which he confirmed for the first time that Kenyan troops had gone into Somalia (SBS broke the news internationally). She has also covered the Australian Open Tennis tournament for the broadcaster over the last three years.
Born in Zambia, Santilla moved to Australia with her family at a young age. She is fluent in five languages and began her career as a reporter for SBS Radio news. She holds a degree in professional communications from RMIT.
Santilla’s work has been recognised with numerous awards for journalism and she has been a four time finalist for the United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) awards
